Biography
Marc McPeak brings more than two decades of legal and executive leadership experience representing businesses, owners, executives, and other key decision-makers. His background includes serving as a General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer, senior in-house attorney, Big Law shareholder, and commercial litigator. This breadth of experience allows Marc to evaluate legal issues from both an attorney’s perspective and the practical perspective of someone who has helped lead organizations through consequential business decisions.
Marc advises clients on commercial transactions, contract negotiation, corporate governance, business acquisitions and sales, commercial real estate matters, employment issues, regulatory compliance, enterprise risk, and dispute resolution. He has counseled publicly traded and privately held companies, private equity-backed businesses, founders, boards of directors, and executive leadership teams across industries including healthcare, commercial real estate, retail, powersports, franchising, transportation, and financial services.
Having spent a substantial portion of his career working inside the businesses he advised, Marc understands that effective legal counsel involves more than identifying potential risks. He works to understand each client’s operations, objectives, and broader commercial environment so that he can provide clear, practical guidance that helps the client move forward confidently. His approach focuses on distinguishing legal risk from business risk, protecting enterprise value, and developing solutions that support responsible growth.
He has advised executive teams and ownership on mergers and acquisitions, complex commercial agreements, real estate development and financing, corporate governance, employment, regulatory compliance, internal investigations, and litigation strategy. He has also managed substantial litigation portfolios and coordinated outside counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
Before transitioning into executive and in-house legal leadership, Marc developed an extensive commercial litigation practice. He began his legal career with Baker Botts LLP and later became a Litigation Shareholder at Greenberg Traurig LLP. During that period, he represented Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, healthcare organizations, and other sophisticated clients in high-stakes commercial disputes, restrictive covenant matters, shareholder disputes, bankruptcy-related litigation, and regulatory matters. His litigation background helps him anticipate potential disputes when structuring transactions and advising clients on important business decisions.
Marc earned his Juris Doctor from Northwestern University School of Law, where he was named to the Dean’s List. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from American University’s School of Public Affairs, also graduating with Dean’s List recognition.
Marc’s professional affiliations include the Association of Corporate Counsel, the American Bar Association Litigation Section, the Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit, the State Bar of Texas Litigation Section, and the Dallas Bar Association.
A Minnesota native, Marc remains an enthusiastic supporter of all things Minnesota, including the Minnesota Vikings and Timberwolves.
